Homework 6: Process Requirements

The purpose of this assignment is to start applying some important process areas to your software projects. In particular, we need to (a) provide some visibility of important project info, (b) monitor progress, and (c) be able to compare progress to plan.

This week please implement these 4 things. You must keep updating these documents.

  1. Create a project homepage and send me (jbrucker@yahoo.com) You can put the Homepage anyplace that convenient. Some choices:
    • TWiki on se.cpe.ku.ac.th - a good wiki for project management
    • Trac, using Trac's builtin Wiki (Trac is on se.cpe.ku.ac.th)
    • pirun.ku.ac.th has personal home pages for students
    • any free web hosting service

    Include in your project homepage:

    • brief description of your project (one paragraph) -- you can hyperlink to longer description in your other documents, such as project proposal.
    • a table listing the members, thier roles, and CAPTCHA of their email addresses (but don't write email addresses as text to avoid spam)
    • link to your SVN source code repository
    • link to your Project Managment plan
    • link to the up-to-date Gantt Chart of your project
    • link to the issue tracking system for your project
  2. Time Tracking - everyday, record the time you spend on each project. Record this information: What to Submit: the project manager should collect and summary this info every week. Each student will have to submit their time tracking data before the end of course.
  3. Issue Tracking Software choose an issue tracking program and use it for tracking issues in your project. There are 2 issue tracking programs on se.cpe.ku.ac.th:
    • Trac - has issue tracking, wiki, roadmap, and integration with svn
    • Bugzilla - popular issue tracking program
Please email me (jbrucker@yahoo.com) to set up a project in Trac or Bugzilla.
  4. Gantt Chart create a Gantt chart for your project, including work breakdown and milestones. This should be kept up-to-date and online.
